Organizational Development

Building resilient and sustainable organizations is essential to delivering effective services. NRCAC offers specialized Organizational Development programming designed to strengthen the health, effectiveness, and sustainability of State Chapters, Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).

Our programs focus on strategic alignment, board development, governance, and leadership, supporting high-quality service delivery. Participants gain stronger leadership, improved communication and teamwork, better alignment with strategic goals, and an increased ability to manage change. This programming fosters a resilient organizational culture that enhances employee engagement and ultimately improves outcomes for children and families.

Board Development

Board development assists governing boards in understanding their role more effectively to create a healthy and sustainable organization. The training covers the following key areas:

  • Roles and responsibilities of board members
  • Context and structure of nonprofit organizations
  • Core components that contribute to organizational health

This training is open to Chapter and CAC board members and executive directors in the Northeast Region - Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Format: In-person preferred; however, virtual training can be provided if necessary.

Length of Program: 3 hours

New CAC Executive Director Support

The orientation and support of a new executive director to their role is important to their success and retention as a leader. NRCAC can support State Chapter staff with training and tools to help new CAC leaders thrive. This includes opportunities for learning and networking with other new executive directors, fostering a supportive environment for growth and collaboration.

This program is open to State Chapter staff in the Northeast Region - Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Format: Virtual

Length of Program: 4-6 months

Secondary Traumatic Stress

CAC professionals are regularly exposed to child trauma as part of their work, and this exposure can lead to secondary traumatic stress (STS). If left unaddressed, STS can have negative impacts on both CAC professionals and their organizations. To support these professionals, NRCAC provides STS training for child abuse professionals and their organizations. The training covers the following key areas:

  • Defining STS
  • Assessing the impact of the work on individuals
  • Exploring strategies to reduce the impact of STS
  • Reviewing organizational strategies for a trauma-exposed workplace

This training is open to CACs, MDT partners, and CAC board members in the Northeast Region - Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Format: In-person preferred; however, virtual training can be provided if necessary.

Length of Program: 3-4 hours

Strategic Planning

NRCAC is available to facilitate a strategic planning process in collaboration with your board of directors or governing structures. The process helps to clarify the organization’s vision, mission, purpose, and its future direction. The first planning session is preferred in-person with follow up virtual consultation calls. 

This program is open to State Chapter and CAC board members/governance structures/advisory boards

Format: In-Person and Virtual
